This is a discussion on 2011 wrx first tune within the Builds forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; any ideas on what i may need or any suggestions on what i should get before getting a street tune?...

i just have an axle back and i plan on having a downpipe before the tune as of right now i just want a little more power but i plan to put some more money and work into it down the road. Plus im really new to all of this so any help is awesome.
or no a catback my fault haha
Its really all in what you want. If you want your warranty you don't need to do anything. If you just want to get rid of the crappy stock tune for one that is more reliable and alot smoother you can get the Cobb AP and flash a stage 1 yourself. If you want more power add a downpipe and flash stage 2. Your best bet will always be a pro tune and its always fun watching your car on the dyno![]()
If you plan on doing more mods than most likely those mods are going to need a tune also. So either wait and get what you want to mod then get a street tune or get a acess port or go open source tune so you can tune as the mods come in.
open source is with the tactrix cable or whatever?
Yes you got it. Most people do downpipe, intake, catback, intercooler, ebcs, etc. for moar power. If you plan on doing these in stages don't get a pro tune until you have the mods that you are happy with. Try searching more before you decide on what you want.
In no proticular order of mod list.
thats pretty much the extent of what i wanted to do for a little while anyway, but thanks for all the information
Make sure you upgrade your brakes and suspension at the same time so you actually have a balanced car that can handle the additional power.
