Quick question for those who have been around a lot longer than me (obviously)
When starting my car, it sputters or turns over for about 3 seconds before starting. What could cause this? Would it be because I had the DW65C Fuel Pump installed? or would it be my Stage 3 Map tuning? Or is it just going to sputter while starting it from now on? Any input would be appreciated, Just want to make sure I'm not hurting my car.
Mine normally takes a second or two after I turn the key to start. I think I need to add a bit of fuel in my cold start tables (I get a real lean reading at first), but I think it's normal. Be nice to get a few other opinions though.
Dunno. Mines not really any slower than an average car. I'd ask your tuner to look into it if it gets worse. Those start up fueling tables are fairly touchy.
Destruction came a lot sooner than I thought :rotfl:
Just kidding, kinda. Having some minor issues.
I think I got some dirty gas and it has been sputtering out really bad. I thought I got all the gas out of it but Its still acting up a bit.
Solutions???
Dropped in some injector cleaner today
Have new spark plugs coming tomorrow
If that fails, looking at the fuel filters to make sure its not clogged. I also need to double check all the tubes and lines for a possible air leak.
Car was running amazing and the only thing that changed was the gas I got from a gas station I should never of went to, was on E and wouldn't of made it and didn't think it would hurt it that bad.
^ This. Sorry, I have no idea how to remedy though.
I sold a 2005 Toyota Matrix with 215,000 miles on it that ran better than my M-I-L's 2004 Camry that only has 40,000 miles on it. I'm picky about gas, she's picky about gas prices. My car never touched Arco or Valero or anything that isn't a nationwide recognized brand. My secret? Hmmmm....
Just filled up from a Sunoco. Heard they are the best around here. Car died out a few times while coming to a stop and then wouldn't start for a few seconds after a couple clicks. Weird.
It sound's like you are losing fuel pressure somewhere. I would start with the fuel pump as that is the only thing that is not stock. I would take it out and check everything, especially since it looks like they had a problem installing it initially. Also stay out of boost.
Yourself. That place doesn't sound competent. I would almost guarantee it has something to do with the fuel pump. There are guides available, it isn't that difficult.
Between the car acting up and work frying a server and internet going down every 3 hours. I've been working more than a......Well use your imagination...
I haven't done much to the car. All I've done was fixed the stereo so my ipod cable works through the stereo, bc the guy who installed it put in the wrong cable so my audio didn't play through it bc it didn't have the aux on it. So I had to replace that. Other than that. I really haven't had much free time. I'm almost back to "normal" though. New server comes in next week and looking at getting fiber optic ran, so all is almost well. I missed you guys, no ****
Haha, we have had some pretty weird chats hahahah. I'll be around more now that I have a stable internet connection at work, since thats where I do most of my surfing haha
I'm in late to the party, but that really sounds like the fuel pump. DW pumps have had a very poor reputation as of late. I'd get a walbro in there if it were me.
Put the stock Fuel Pump back in last night. Was a lot easier than I thought. No leaks. But the car won't start, even after priming it it 10 times. I'm thinking I missed something, so I need to tear back into it tonight. Good thing its a pretty simple procedure.
