Do NOT let it interfere with CF12, young man...

No worries Rick, I'll be there... I can't have my car down for more than one week anyway. I'll be riding my bike to work rain or shine...

Direzza Star Specs are better, but at $89 a tire, you can't beat the price of the Hankooks. My only complaint is that the sidewalls are a bit "squishy." But the tires will hold long past that squishy feel.

The Time crunch as begun! Tonight I am installing the fuel pump; I'm going to attempt the injectors on Wednesday. That leaves the Turbo install for the weekend. CAI and 3-port are an easy install, so I'll do those whenever.

I don't expect my clutch to hold, so I'll be installing a clutch at some point soon. I'm just hoping :x: that my clutch will hold through the tune.

I'll be hitting 100K miles very soon (currently at 99.5K miles)... on the OE clutch!! Then there will be the timing belt/water pump...

All pretty easy stuff! You can do it!

#53 ·
The clutch may hold more than you think it will, provided you don't abuse it, and it's not already slipping. I was able to hold quite a bit of power on the stocker with my hybrid, until I really got after the aggressive tuning (north of 375hp).

However, mine had about 55k on it, or so..

Fuel pump is in!

The back is all torn out! All I can say is -- Thank god I have a wagon

The fuel pump assy

The pump is out! I used up most of my fuel (fuel light was on) to keep it as clean as possible

Stock fuel pump assy.

The Walbro pump is easily larger, but....

The stock fuel filter is much larger

The new Walbro mounted on the assembly:

now I finally know where the fuel pump actually is...how about that. #Imanoob

I never truly realized how little sound deadening these cars had until I pulled out the rear... no wonder...

#72 ·
I had to clean her up before she sits for 1.5 weeks :D

BTW, that's our Mazdaspeed3 in the background of the pics

Well, I finished my drivers' side injector install this evening. This wasn't the first time that I have worked on my car at night, but it was a little intimidating considering what people "say" about injector installation. I started at 9:40 PM, so it was already dark when I started the install.

Intercooler, battery, and washer fluid reservoir out (routine for me):

DS GBOD and cylinder head vent:

You have to unplug the DS TGV in order to get the GBOD out:

GBOD and cylinder head vent out!!

Stock Injectors are now visible:

Removing the bolts on the fuel rail:

Injectors are out!!

DW 750cc Injectors are in :)

I finished the install at approx. 10:45 P.M., so the installation wasn't as bad as I expected!

The GBOD and stock injectors:

I forgot about that little guy. It's only like that on pre 06s I believe. I assume you just got a longer piece of hose to replace...

hahaha seriously.

And I've never done anything with a GBOD...so why would I know what it is?
Yeah guys...he's running a sweet stock STI...cut him some slack!

OK! Injectors have been installed! The Passenger side GBOD removal was a little more involved. The injector install (from start to finish) took about 2.5 hours, though the majority of the installation involved re-installing the passenger GBOD since the bracket actually supports the coolant overflow tank and coolant lines.

Heat shield, intake, and TMIC brackets removed:

Passenger GBOD visible; must remove the bolts holding the coolant overflow:

Cylinder head vent will not come fully off, but it must be swiveled to remove the lower bolt on the GBOD:

This bolt (in the shadow) by the passenger TGV actuator is a PITA but is necessary to remove the GBOD. Would have been 10x easier if I had already pulled the turbo:

GBOD is out!

Stock injectors and fuel rail:

Injectors are out!

DW 750cc Injectors are in!

GBOD re-installed:

All 4 stock injectors:
