My battery is about to need a swap too. Takes an extra milli-second or three to turn over. But who's counting...

When I put my silicone inlet on there was a lot of sweating and cursing going on. I didn't pull the manifold. Some of those clamps are a proper PITA.
I've got a stock BPV and it sounds louder and a bit different now.

    Have fun!

    Good stuff Zach!

I have been too lazy to do mine. I keep kicking around doing fuel rails while the manifold is off.

So you remove TGVs...do you plug the holes in there anywhere? I never really new how they worked.

    Mikie:

Yeah, when you remove the TGVs and motors, the holes for TGV shaft will vent to atmosphere. There are two options to plug the holes: KNS makes blockoff plates that will plug the holes or you can thread the hole and add a plug then weld/epoxy the plug to keep it from leaking.

These TGV housings are GrimmSpeed's TGV deletes, so they thread and plug the holes:

    Wow nice.

I guess I'm not the only one who sees the TGVs as a retarded "innovation" on Subarus.

I don't believe that it's a "retarded" innovation whatsoever. In fact, given Subaru's requirement to adhere to cold-start emissions law, IMO TGVs are quite a clever innovation altogether. TGVs produce vortices in the intake tract that aid in atomization of the injected fuel, which in turn leads to a cleaner and more complete burn. Given that catalysts are less effective when cold, this is necessary. Again, quite clever.
