Pulled the plugs today and checked the gap. 0.035" on all four. Hill recommends 0.030" gap, so that might be where some of the power was hidden. Car feels much peppier on the road, but I'm not sure how it would fare on a dyno.

Also received my MBC today (thanks Kronos!). Looking forward to going with the hybrid boost control this week!

    Prepping for Hybrid boost control.

I despise the AP Pro-tune. I could be tuning my own boost control, but instead I MUST rely on the tuner. DO NOT WANT!!!

so basically what you're doing is manually feeding/regulating the reference to the ecm controlled bcs?

There's a thread on it. Basically we use the MBC at full throttle for mechanical boost then use the EBCS to bleed pressure to the wastegate at partial throttle. No more PTFB and the quicker response and lack of boost spiking with the MBC.

Response of an MBC @ WOT with the ability to regulate boost on PT via the EBCS and allows the ECU to retain its safeguards (limp mode / boost cut). It's a great system, only bettered by adding an EWG into the mix.

Personally, I'd have gone with Hallman RX over GS for the MBC, but the GS unit is sufficient...

Nice build thread. Yeah my tuner wants me to run the Hallman RX and just ditch my grimmspeed ebcs. I guess with this hybrid you can run both. Thanks for documenting turbo install, now I can be prepared on what to expect. Sorry about the whole turbo thing though... or is it good?

I think Zach isn't upset over it...he likes the early spool. Very streetable. He's just disappointed he didn't get what he thought he was getting, and in turn found a boost problem in the works. Once it's fully set, it won't be the overall upper power gains that you'd expect from an 18G, but it will be a damn good turbo and have a great early power curve.
