So, fellow enthusiasts, I was scammed. The 18G I was sold isn't in fact an 18G. It's a 16G. In fact, the manufacturer is unknown. Hill admits that this makes the most sense. My turbo fully spools by 3500RPM: This should not happen with an 18G on a 2.0L. Furthermore, the 275whp is much more characteristic of the 16G. Given that I wanted a 16GXT to begin with, perhaps this isn't so bad. I'm a little bummed. I was hoping for the punch of the 18G, though maybe after the wedding I'll send it in to Blouch and have it rebuilt with the XT wheel.

My boost spike is due to the fact that Hill tuned the WGDC more aggressively down low thinking that it was an 18G and that i would not make full boost before 4000 RPM. Since the turbo isn't really an 18G, I'm making full boost much sooner than expected.

    Bummer man.

At least you got it figured out, and your engine didn't esplode, but that still sucks.
On an unrelated note, did you do anything to your air splitter after installing the STI intercooler? I know the STI one won't fit without an STI scoop, and that only the JDM scoops fit on the bugeye, but can you modify the stock one, or did you just leave it?

What? Where did you get the turbo from? Have you given the seller hell?

Well that's interesting. How did you ascertain that it's a 16?

NASIOC. I have given the seller once chance to explain the situation from his perspective. After that, I will report the user to Scammer central.

Simply put, it is IMPOSSIBLE for an 18G to make 23PSI at 3500 RPM on a 2L. Combined with the fact that my peak power is at 6250 RPM (suggesting that the boost tapers at this point), and that the turbo I put in my car matches every description of a TD05-16G, I think it's pretty infallible.

    For anyone interested:

I have dispatched the following message.

I want to hear your side of the story as to why you sold me an unknown MHI 16G under the guise of a Blouch TD05H-18G turbo. My tuner and I have confirmed that the turbo you sold me is a 16G due to the following:
1.) Boost onset allows full boost at approx. 3500 RPM on the 2.0L. This is NOT POSSIBLE with an 18G. The final numbers are indicative of a 16G turbo.
2.) The compressor housing diameter and compressor wheel inducer diamter (per Blouch) matches that of a TD05-16G turbo.

Furthermore, wastegate pressure on the turbo you sold me is 7 PSI. Per Blouch, the wastegate pressure on a Blouch TD05H-16G turbo is 9 PSI. From this, we conclude one of two things: 1.) The wastegate has been replaced or 2.) This is not a Blouch turbo. From what I surmise, you sold me a 16G turbo of unknown origin (Could be an E-bay turbo).

I have decided to be very gracious and listen to your side of the story before reporting you to the admins as a scammer. I paid for a BLOUCH TD05H-18G turbo and received a 16G turbo from an unknown origin. You have 7 days from the receipt of this message to explain your case. At the conclusion of the 7 days, you will be branded a scammer and will not be able to do business on these forums again. If I were in your shoes, I would take advantage of this generosity.

I've done well selling things over there, but never really bought. I've had great deals buying over here at Club though, even though the markets are completely different.
