Ok...So I've hit a bit of a snag. The GD dash doesn't swap directly over so I'm debating on sticking with the RS dash and splicing everything I need into it. It would take a little bit of extra work but I think it would look cleaner in the end. What do you guys think? Not that anyone follows this but me, so I'm probably just talking to myself. lol

Better to do the extra work and have it look right.

Yup. I am terrible with running wires in cars, but I'd agree with Calvin.

Do the splicing. I think RS white-face dashes look killer as well.

I have a JDM GC STI cluster for it.

The wires are already run, it's just a matter of splicing the correct ones.

Despite being an EE, even my splicing normally looks sloppy. I'm getting a bit better with it overtime. Just have to force myself to take my time and buy huge bins of shrink wrap. A ferule crimper and some ferrules would help here and there as well.

Soldering and shrink wrap work great

That's what I always do. Plus, I wrap the assembly in electrical tape if the harness is exposed to the elements (the Hella horns for example). I have to do all my soldering on a benchtop solder station, though. Wrangling a soldering iron in tight spaces (giggity?) is a recipe for burned fingers and a stream of expletives...

So what things do you need to splice? Dash cluster stuff, DCCD? I'm assuming your GC STI cluster doesn't have that display. What else do you need? Starter?

It DOES have the DCCD display! I'm pretty sure the only thing I need to splice are the interior bits. Most of the stuff under the hood is coming from the STI so it should be straight forward. Just a little extra work on the inside is all.

Interesting. I thought the bugeye STI didn't have DCCD, or am I talking crazy-talk?

I looked at Wikipedia, and I had no idea how many variants the WRX went through prior to the GD-chassis. The GC WRXs changed nearly every year in the '90s.
