Got myself in a pickle. Ran out of Motul oil and need to do my oil change today. If you had to choose (slave to Advance Auto selection), would you go with Rotella T6 5w40 (not recommended weight) or Castrol Edge Syntec 5W30? Thanks, fellas..

I'm running rotella t6 in mine and was recommended to get it. Also I believe 5w-40 is one of the weights we can use

I agree, mostly, but then I made the mistake of reading this. 2011 WRX misfires, Subaru says my 5w-40 is the issue - NASIOC Some , but...

I did a change using the Castrol you mentioned when it was on sale. No oil consumption or anything that obviously was bad about it (I had some consumption with t6). If you're not opposed to Walmart, you could get a 5 qt jug of pennzoil ultra 5w-30 from there for 28 bucks. It has had good UOAs from what I've seen. That's what I'm using now.

My tuner recommended t6 so I used it. I believe 5w40 is a weight that is ok for these cars. I've heard its bad for cats though

How the **** does engine oil have anything to do with catalytic converters??

From what I was told it has a lot of magnesium which is harmful to the catalytic converter

Manganese or magnesium? Manganese can inhibit the absorption of sulfur (H2S).

The engine doesn't run on oil! It runs on gas!!!!! wtf?

Only way oil would be a problem is if you ****ed up your engine...and you shouldn't be driving it anyway!
