There could be many factors involved. As a guy who works in an engineering environment, I've come to understand that there's no such thing as a "no brainer". Before a feature or upgrade finds its way onto one of our existing production machines, issues such as cost justification, manufacturability, compatibility with existing equipment, physical space limitations, accompanying electronics, engineering resources, and even corporate politics have to be resolved. I'm sure that FHI/Subaru (or any large automaker) has their own interesting internal minefield to cross before a new feature makes it to one of our production cars.
